Robert Johnson

Senior Pastor

Robert graduated from James Madison University with a B.A. in Religion and Philosophy and earned both an MA and a ThM in Systematic and Historical Theology from Regent College in Vancouver, British Colombia. He served on the staff of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship from 1988-1995 in full-time ministry to college students at James Madison and Washington & Lee Universities. He has served as a Pastor at HPC since 1998.  Robert is married to Lynne and they have two adult children, Bethany and Daniel.

Thad Davis

Assistant Pastor of
Adult Ministry

Thad is a graduate of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. He has enjoyed a background in the Marine Corps Band, with English Literature as a teacher, as a missionary in Germany, and currently serves in the Air National Guard as a chaplain. As a recipient of God's grace in discipleship, he also eagerly shares the Good News of Christ through patient conversations. He is married to Laura, his high school sweetheart, and together they have two children, Lilli and Koen. As a family they enjoy hiking, biking, camping, reading clever stories and exploring new corners of God's creation.

Nathan Grubbs

Director of Youth & Families NathanG@HixsonPres.org


Nathan has been serving in ministry to students since 2000 in the Chattanooga area. He graduated from Covenant College in 2003 with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with concentrations in Youth Ministry, Sociology, and Missions. He married his wife, April in 2003 and they have three kids, Ellie, Caleb, and AnnaKate. He loves football, particularly the Tennessee Titans and the South Carolina Gamecocks.

Patrick Jones

Director of Worship PatrickJ@HixsonPres.org

Patrick grew up in nearby Rome, Georgia. He earned a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies from Valdosta State University, a Master of Music from the University of Oregon, and is currently pursuing an MBA from UTC. Patrick grew up playing piano and guitar in the church, and was heavily involved in choirs from a young age. Patrick joined the staff of HPC in July of 2018. Prior to joining HPC, Patrick served as Choir Director and Music Director at various churches in Georgia and Music Ministry Coordinator at Western Home Communities in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Patrick's wife, Lynn, is Assistant Professor of Piano and Keyboard Area Coordinator at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Lynn and Patrick recently welcomed their first child, Sheperd, in September 2020. 



Alisa Gillis

Director of
Children's Ministries

Alisa has worked with children in a variety of settings for over 20 years. She has enjoyed teaching children in a classroom, dance studio, church, and camp setting. She has always considered her role as one of ministry. Alisa earned her B.S. In Biology from Mississippi College and her MEd from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Originally from Mississippi, what brought her to the Chattanooga area was a nearby summer camp and a desire to minister to children. Alisa lives in Hixson with her husband Jerry, daughter Mary Margaret, and dog Baby. During free time, they enjoy camping, movies, travel, and being with friends and family.

Steven Edging

Outreach Coordinator StevenE@HixsonPres.org

Steven grew up in Hixson.  He then went to the University of Tennessee where he graduated in 2000.  He loves his Vols but He loves Jesus more.  He also graduated from Covenant Theological Seminary in 2011.  Steven is married to Brooke and together they have 4 children - Sarah, Samuel, Titus, Ezra.  They served 4.5 years in Kampala, Uganda training pastors in theology and ministry.  Steven loves to teach God's Word.  He has been with HPC since 2018.


Wendi Schroyer

Administrative Assistant


Wendi grew up in Southeast Missouri and Murfreesboro, TN. She served 13 years as Administrative Assistantat at a previous church . Wendi married her husband, Larry in 2000. They enjoy traveling with their two Boston Terriers, Roxie and Precious. She enjoys camping, playing golf, reading books, and spending time with family and friends. Wendi has been with HPC since August 2019.
